UPDATE: Just wanted to say hi :)

What’s up guys!! It’s been such a long time since I last blogged, so I wanted to give an update about everything I’ve been doing!

JULY- AUGUST: My debut album in the Philippines! And my birthday!!

I was so glad I got to spend a little more resting time with my family! It was a nice refreshing first two weeks of summer just laying in the grass, soaking into the sun. I also got to spend a simple birthday with my friends and family at home. It was great to take a nice break!

Then I got a call from Star Records, one of the biggest record labels in the Philippines, who said that they wanted to work with me on an album — for the whole summer!

We flew over and for two months our schedule was jam-packed with performances, guestings, and interviews. But I really wanted to fill in some space for the streetchildren in the country, so I took some time to be a part of ANCOP, an organization that helped the poor. I sang their themesong, which was a part of my album, too. It made me realize how much of a difference I could make in the lives of so many people. It was just amazing.

SEPTEMBER: Hitting the books — Homeschool.

I was really excited to start school again, but while waiting for my supplies to arrive to my house, I was invited to go to BEE-YOU-TEE-FULL Israel, where I sang for a Google Israel event called Powered by You. It was so fun getting to meet so many amazing people, like RAD Cobus Potieger (the most AWESOMEST drummer I know) and the cool 2CELLOS!! I had a great time, and Israel was amazing. I just LOVED it!

I was so happy to fly from Israel straight to LA for my sister’s wedding. It was so beautiful and I was so glad to be there to see all the excitement happen!

While I was there I got to spend a lot more time with my cousins in Torrance. They are so fun to be with and they gave us such a great time.

OCTOBER: School & Gap Commercial!

School was doing so great!! I was a Straight A student and I was proud of it haha!! I loved my new school program.

Then I got a call from GAP!!! IT WAS THE BOMB!!!!! LIKE REALLY. I couldn’t believe my ears. They wanted me to be a part of their commercial AND sing for it too. I auditioned for the song “I Want Candy” and eventually I got the part. We flew over to New York and I had a blast!! (Psst. I even did some shopping too haha)

After the Gap, I had another big blessing: I got to go back to the Philippines and work with SM, the biggest mall company in Asia, and I got to be in their commercial as well. I met great people and I was so grateful to have been in the Philippines yet again.

NOVEMBER: MANNY PACQUIAO WINS!!

When I was in the Philippines for the first time, I had the great honour to meet Manny Pacquiao, the greatest boxer in THE WORLD, and he asked me if I wanted to sing for his fight. So I took the opportunity and sang the national anthem in front of him…. and BOOM! I was going to sing for him on November the 12th on his fight against Juan Manuel Marquez.

We went over to Las Vegas and right when I arrived, I just had that feeling when I just had to thank everybody for everything. I felt a little emotional over how my dreams came true because of Lady Gaga, how I coped with all my struggles because of my family, and how I got there because of my fans. All in all, I was thankful for GOD. I owe it all to Him and no matter what I go through I will always trust in Him.

A lot of people were counting on me to represent the Filipinos with a great rendition of the anthem. So when the day of the fight came, my heart was pounding, my legs were wobbling…. I was so excited… and nervous. But after I went into the ring for my rehearsal I knew I was okay. And at the fight…. I did it! It felt great to have something less to worry about. I was so grateful. And best of all…. Manny won! I burst into tears of happiness!

I am just sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo…….WOW. I am so grateful for everybody who helped me through everything.

I just want to say always dare to dream. You never know what could happen.

Photo Shoot for Upcoming Album

During Maria’s visit to the Philippines, she will be recording an EP album for her Filipino fans. She tells in an interview that her songs will sound like her version of “Born This Way” and will include a few Tagalog songs as well. The album is scheduled for release next month.
